Saturday, July 8, 2023 –Kenya Police has finalized signing Kariobangi Sharks player Tyson Otieno into its new season squad.
The talented midfielder – a Kenyan version of Jay Jay Okocha – has been with Kariobangi Sharks for about two seasons where he sharpened his football skills to become a force to reckon with in the local arena.
Though Gor Mahia wanted to sign him, they were caught between a rock and a hard place when they learnt that the player was already attracted to the police side.
The official announcement of the signing was made by Kenya Police on Saturday July 7 morning, although specific details of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition of Otieno is seen as a major boost for the Kenya Police as they look to strengthen their midfield department.
The club expect that Otieno’s presence will provide both quality and depth in the midfield, fulfilling the club’s need for a revamped midfield.
“Kariobangi Finest ameshakua Sanse (is now a Police). Tyson Otieno has penned down a contract with the dream club for many players,” the club announced.
Tyson Otieno, the man the myth the legend, with 19 goal involvements this past season has been a key player for William Muluya side – the Sharks.
According to Sports reporter Carol Radull, the Police’ unveiling of Tyson makes its second top level signing this starting season.
In the previous season, Kenya Police finished in third place with 64 points, just six points behind champions Gor Mahia.
