Tuesday, July 12, 2023 –Western Region leaders allied to Azimio coalition faced clashes in Busia Town where they were staging their Anti-State demonstrations today Wednesday July 12.
For instance, former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was involved in a car chase with the police as rioters supporting the government pelted his convoy with huge stones.
His car would eventually be left with dents all over as a group of youth also stopped Roots Party leader Prof George Wajackoyah’s address in Busia Town.
Wajackoyah and ODM MPs Raphael Wanjala (Budalang’i) and Catherine Omanyo (Busia Woman Representative) were reportedly ejected from Busia Town by an angry mob shortly before they addressed a gathering in Marachi Estate.
The Roots Party chief is among leaders supporting Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga’s nationwide protests against the skyrocketing cost of living.
Moreover, in a video clip shared by The Star today, a vehicle claimed to belong to Wajackoyah can be seen being pelted with stones as it speeds along the Busia-Kisumu highway.
The vehicle joined the Busia-Kisumu highway from the road that leads to Marachi Estate on the South Western end of Busia Town.
Wajackoyah reportedly arrived in Marachi accompanied by MPs Wanjala and Omanyo where the former presidential candidate and other Azimio leaders were scheduled to address supporters.
