Oparanya, Makau Arrested

Thursday, July 13, 2023 –Police have reportedly arrested two Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya-allied politicians, today.

Breaking news reaching our desk noon of Thursday July 13 indicated that both former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as well as Mavoko MP Patrick Makau had already been arrested by detectives and driven to unknown location.

Making this confirmation, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga, while addressing from Nairobi, noted that the police had pounced on the two today noon.

“They have today arrested Makau as well as Wycliffe Oparanya. Tomorrow they will be coming for more persons. We are ready for the drama but we want to remind them that this will never stop River Nile from flowing to its final destination,” he warned.

The Azimio coalition boss went on to announce that Wednesday remains their day of protest and urged supporters to continue jamming the streets on that day.

He seized the opportunity to recognize those who turned up on Wednesday July 12 to demonstrate against what he called ‘poor leadership’.

“We will have our protests every Wednesday. Everything we are going to do will be done within the strict confines of the law.

“We do not fear death amid frustrated Kenyans who were duped into poor leadership that seems to deprive them their basic rights.

After all, at Kamukunji where where we hold our rallies, there are no shops or buildings which this regime claims we destroy,” he announced.

Mr. Odinga was speaking this while flunked by former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Prof George Wajackoyah.

But Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki warned that allowing politicians to carry on with their riots could give rise to crimes that could pose a great challenge to this country.

The Interior CS added that, most crimes in the country are starting to come up in the guise of politics.
