Wednesday, July 19, 2023 –Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino and youth activist Calvin Okoth aka Gaucho have been arrested in Nairobi.
In news update by a section of Azimio la Umoja-allied supporters and politicians, it was reported that MP Owino was pounced on at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA from Mombasa where he had flown to for a series of opposition plans ahead of their demonstartions
He also took to his socials to update the country on his whereabouts saying he had been put under police custody at the DCI offices.
“Have been detained by the DCI JKIA after my arrival from Mombasa. Currently under arrest,” he tweeted.
The youthful Embakasi East MP is among expected Azimio leaders for their three-day Maandamano that starts this Wednesday July 19 to Friday July 21.
Owino was recently captured on camera condemning the ongoing police brutality on peaceful demonstrators around the country.
