Tuesday, August 1, 2023 –Former electoral commissioner Abdi Guliye has warned President William Ruto against entering into any kind of talks with the opposition.

In his latest observation, Guliye noted that it amounts to mockery of the electoral process in the country.

He added that the huge budget that is spend on general election in the country should be reason to not allow election losers close to power.

“The talks are a mockery of democracy. What is the point of going into an election, spending billions of money, time, and thereafter, we don’t respect the outcome of that process?” Guliye posed on Tv47.

The ex-commissioner, while speaking on Monday July 31, explained that all presidential candidates signed code of conduct and agreement to respect election outcomes.

“As Kenyans, we should agree that if we will not respect elections, political barons can sit under a tree at State House and agree on how to share power,” Mr. Guliye said.

He was speaking this, days after it was confirmed that former Nigerian head of State Olusegun Obasanjo was leading talks between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

The ex-president sat down both Ruto and Raila in a Mombasa hotel last Friday July 28 where they agreed to calm down and talk to each other.

Both President Ruto and Raila, in the presence of Mr. Obasanjo, discussed way forward by allowing both ends to form a five aside membership to discuss emerging issues in the country.

However, most Kenya Kwanza politicians are fearing that the talks could lead to Raila’s inclusion into their new government.
