Tuesday, August 1, 2023 –Both President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua have read a riot act at their juniors in government over laxity on job.
For instance, Ruto, today Tuesday August 1 at the Statehouse, pointed out how many government officials don’t know what they are supposed to do and have no clue either.
In his speech during performance contract signing exercise, the president was concerned that many Principal Secretaries PSs have no clue what goes on in their departments.
He disclosed having called some to inquire a number of issues only to be met with a response that signified persons who just sit idle in their offices.
“I call many PSs and ask them what is the problem and they have no clue. You aren’t a watchman or a messenger, you are the PS. Explain to me how you will advise me if you have less information than I do,” he stated.
On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua exposed the mentality with a section of Cabinet members who take their jokes and friendship with the head of State, too far.
“Today is an important day, a very important day of signing performance contracts and you come after the head of State is sited. Where else were you. Who else have you gone to see? I do not understand this?”
“Mr. President, since you chose me, I have been late in your meeting only once. But it is you who mixed me up that particular day. We agreed 7AM but you left to the Airport at 6.30AM. But still I was embarrassed,” Gachagua said.
Ruto, speaking on the same lateness matter, warned that not keeping time with office work, will lead to more action from him as the head of the State.
For instance, today, President William Ruto locked out Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and Trade CS Moses Kuria from the meeting, today.
The two CSs together with some principal secretaries PSs arrived past 8AM meeting time when Ruto, Gachagua and Chief Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi were already sited.
