Saturday, August 5, 2023 –Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has blasted Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary CS Kipchumba Murkomen for what he described as nepotism.
In a sharply-worded statement on Saturday August 5, Cheruiyot who is a fellow United Democratic Alliance UDA Party member, noted that Murkomen was openly displaying tribalism in hiring State officials in the lucrative ministry.
A seemingly tired senator, for the first time, called out Murkomen from hiring a Kalenjin, Jerotich Seei, out of a total of 12 applicants, countrywide.
“Very distasteful. This is why I never respond to your requests for comments on topical issues. With such unethical habits, will u ever turn a profit?
“In a list of 12 Kenyans, you went and singled out a Kalenjin to push a silly narrative. You should be ashamed of yourselves,” he added.
The Roads CS, yesterday Friday August 4, announced appointment of Seii Jerotich as the new Vice Chair of the e-Mobility Task Force for a period of 20 days.
This is the first time two UDA Party politicians are going ‘fangs and tongs’ at each other publicly and, therefore, it will be interesting for the country to see how this ends up.
Before joining Ministry of Roads, Kipchumba – a close friend of President William Ruto – served twice as senator of Elgeyo Markwet County.
