Sunday, August 20, 2023 –Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has encouraged President William Ruto to serve Kenyans equally now that he is in-charge of the country.
Arati, who was addressing in the interdenominational prayer service attended by all leaders from both political divides – Azimio and Kenya Kwanza – said himself is ready to support the current head of State achieve his manifesto.
He went ahead to acknowledge that Kenya Kwanza leader William Ruto was legitimately elected into office and advised him to remain focused on his work.
“Mimi kama Gavana wa Kisii niko tayari kufanya kazi na serikali kuu. kwa sababu kama gavana I need to work with the National government for the sake of development.
“Rais ulitushinda kura nataka nikuulize ulikuwa na ODM ukatembea na Baba baada ya mambo kuwa mbaya ukahepa ukaenda kwa Uhuru sababu ulikuwa na msimamo. Sahii weee ni rais,” he said.
He, however, asked Ruto to allow a genuine dialogue that can help the country move forward and to stabilise.
Talking about the Handshake, Governor Arati dismissed such plans saying nothing can be farther from the truth.
“Saa hii kila mtu anakupea heko…kando na kwamba kuna Baba anaomgoza maandano na Sisi tunafuata yeye wewe kama Kiomgozi itamzee kaa nayeye na hatutaki nusu mkate,” Arati told the Head of State.
The ODM Party governor urged leaders to learn to be tolerant with each other regardless of their political affiliations.
“Siasa lazima iwe na Adabu kiasi…Your Exc you are the President of the Republic, we still look up to you, viongozi tuwe na subra hakuna malaika atashuka kutoka mbinguni ni sisi ndio tutasaidia watu wetu,” the first-time governor said.
Simba Arati seized the opportunity to list demands he wanted the national government to fulfill in his county.
Leaders who were present in the Kisii church event include Education Cabinet Secretary CS Ezekiel Machogu among others.
