Faith Kipyegon Breaks Silence After Winning 2nd Gold in the World Championship

Sunday, August 27, 2023 –Talented athlete Faith Kipyegon has broken her silence after winning two medals in the just-ended championships.

Taking to her socials, Kipyegon noted that this was the time she was eagerly waiting for and thanked her fans as well as her coaches for the immense support.

“This has been an amazing year for me. Making history yesterday, winning two gold medals in a championship is what I was dreaming for this season. My dream just came true, it is amazing. I have been consistent, focused on the finish line and on writing history. I will continue,” she stated.

Leaders among them President William Ruto described her consistent performance as exceptional for bagging the second gold in the 5000m at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest.

“The brilliant, exceptional and incomparable Faith Kipyegon has bagged a second Gold in the 5000m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Well in Emanuel Wanyonyi and Beatrice Chebet for Silver in the men’s 800m and bronze in womens 5000m,” Ruto haled the athlete.

His sentiments corroborated by the opposition leader Raila Odinga who hailed Kipyegon for the double win in the competition.

“Congratulations to Faith Kipyegon for her stunning 1500m/5000m double victory in Budapest. In 2023, she’s broken three world records and secured two world titles, putting firmly on the map and solidifying her place in the record books as one of the greatest athletes ever,” Raila said.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on his side, said the Kenyan star. Faith Kipyegon. had stamped her authority to remarkably win the 5000m in the World race.

“Budapest, Hungary. This is priceless talent. Amazing! Congratulations, Faith. You are the pride of our nation! Special plaudits to Beatrice Chebet who came third in the race and Emmanuel Wanyonyi for bagging silver in 800m,” he tweeted.

Kipyegon produced a brilliant performance to win the women’s 5000m final and her second gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships after winning 1500m gold earlier in the competition.

The Kenyan clocked 14:53.88 to become the first woman to win the 1500m and 5000m double. The 29-year-old now has Kenya’s two gold medals at the event.

Her long-time adversary, Sifan Hassan, finished second after 14 minutes and 54.11 seconds. Hassan took bronze in the 1500m.

Beatrice Chebet, the World Cross Country champion, took bronze in 14:54.33. Her compatriot Margaret Chelimo finished fourth, per World Athletics.

As reported by World Athletics, the first eight to cross the finish line will be awarded hefty prize money. In the case of Kipyegon, she will bag sh 10,010,000 for winning the 1500m gold medal and an additional sh 10,010,000 for the 5000m gold medal.

Kipyegon will now walk away with sh 20,020,000 for her remarkable feat at the global showpiece.
