Ruto, Gachagua, Musalia, Muturi Fly out of the Country

Thursday, September 14, 2023 –Key government officials led by President William Ruto are out of the country for different official duties.

Days after his deputy Rigathi Gachagua left the country on a trip to Colombia and Cuba, President William Ruto, on Wednesday September 13 evening, also departed for the United States of America U.S.A.

What this could technically mean is that, as of now, the country is under National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula who is third most-ranking public official in the supremacy pecking order.

Constitution of Kenya

The Constitution of Kenya allows the Speaker of the National assembly to take charge of the country in the absence of the president and his deputy.

This, the Constitution envisaged that in such a case of an emergency, it would take the legislative wing of government to make sure that law and order is maintained as the country plans next step.

Interestingly, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is also out of the country same to Attorney General Justin Muturi both who are camping in London in the United Kingdom for a week-long official assignment.

“Arrived safely in London for a three-day official visit. Thank you Balozi Esipisu for the warm reception. Excited and ready to engage with UK government officials, industry leaders, and like-minded partners. Our goal is to showcase Kenya as the premier investment hub in Eastern Africa and beyond,” Mudavadi updated on his arrival in the UK.

President William Ruto is out of the country in the United States U.S.A to attend the 78th session of the United Nations UN General Assembly.

This meeting with the theme ‘rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity’ is planned to kick off on September 19 ending 23.

Statehouse Spokesman Hussein Mohammed explained that the session will also focus on discussions surrounding Vision 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals toward peace, prosperity, and progress.

First five days

Before the meeting starts, Dr. Ruto will use the five days spare to visit Silicon Valley in San Francisco where he is expected to forge ties with tech gurus and billionaires aim being to attract them to Africa.

“The visit aims to enhance investment opportunities and trade relations with the US, with a particular focus on nurturing Kenya’s thriving start-up sector known as the Silicon Savannah,” Mohammed announced.

President Ruto will meet tech leaders of Microsoft, Intel, Google, and Apple with whom he wants to ask them to start absorbing young talents from Kenya as well as to invest in Kenya.
