Monday, September 18, 2023Kenya Kwanza rocks its own boat from inside as key figures mount supremacy war among themselves.

Just hours after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called out CS Moses Kuria over his remarks on the increasing fuel prices in the country, Kuria has come out guns blazing reiterating his remarks on the ongoing debate on the cost of living.

On Monday September 18 morning, the Trade Cabinet Secretary hit back at Gachagua who had reprimanded him over ‘arrogance remarks’ on the plight of the country.

Argument based on Scientific Research

In a hard-hitting statement in response to Gachagua, Kuria repeated that his remarks were scientific in nature and based of facts and not fiction.

“August fuel stocks will land in October and the cost is well-known and scientific. September shipments will land in November and costs are also known,” he explained.

Kuria further told Gachagua that the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA will not be reducing oil prices any time soon.

This, according to the CS, will go past November and that no Kenyan should be lied to by anyone that things could improve soon.

“Then the bilateral arrangements between Saudis and Russia on one side and China and India on the other hand plus ongoing oil cuts,” the CS added in reference to the agreement made by Saudi Arabia and Russia on September 5, to extend their voluntary oil production cuts through the end of this year.

Global Fuel market

The two nations agreed to trim 1.3 million barrels of crude out of the global market which is expected to raise energy prices.

Yesterday Sunday September 17 after arriving from his Colombia tour, the DP addressed the back and forth between members of the public and top State official notably Kuria and Ndii saying they should restraint themselves from responding arrogantly to citizens.

“The Government remains aware of and is sensitive to the challenges Kenyans are facing today; the arrogant statements by a few leaders do not, in any way, reflect the official government position or that of President William Ruto,” said Gachagua in a long statement on Sunday.

This is after Kuria had openly told Kenyans to either be ready for another hike in fuel cost to sh 260 per liter or resort to drilling their own fuel well at their homes.

“When you keep on complaining that the prices of fuel have gone up, why don’t you just drill your own oil well?” CS Kuria said days ago.

Ndii, on the other hand, shared the same sentiments saying debt levels in the country will not allow the cost of living to go down as government was focusing its energy on settling foreign loans than anything else.

The William Ruto’s economic advisor added that he is not a politician to lure voters with sweet words and that he also doesn’t trust politicians as they had lied blatantly that there is hope beckoning when there was none.
