- Some Leaders are a big Scam. Gachagua is Likely one - February 23, 2025
Monday, September 18, 2023 –In a rebuttal over the ongoing fuel debate in the country, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of leading by example in talking down on Kenyans.
Making his reference to the many incidences the DP had turned a section of the country into a laughing stock after supporting Azimio la Umoja, Sifuna reminded Gachagua of his ‘shareholding’ remarks which, according to the senator, was a complete ridicule to those who did not vote in Ruto.
“Maybe you sit this one out. There is literally no one in the regime that comes close to you in terms of contempt for the people. You of the “shareholders” fame? No Sir. Sit down. You make Moses Kuria and Ndii sound like page boys in comparison. They are at best, your students,” Sifuna said in a Monday September 18 statement.
This is after the second in command reprimanded a section of top government official for talking down on Kenyans over the skyrocketing cost of living.
Gachagua Reprimands Kuria, Ndii
In the Sunday September 17 long tweet, Gachagua told Cabinet Secretaries and Economic Advisors in their government to stop talking down on the people who elected them, seemingly referring to both CS Moses Kuria and economist David Ndii.
“Talking down on the people and demoralising those who look up to them for solutions and a way out of the difficult situation they find themselves in is not good leadership. Its arrogance,” Gachagua wrote his long statement immediately after landing in the country from his week-long Colombia tour.
But Sifuna has reminded the DP that, if it were not for his recklessness after winning power, perhaps Kuria and Ndii would be different people, maybe.
Sifuna, in another subsequent video seen by this desk, asked President Ruto to come out in person and address Kenyans the same way he asked for votes directly from them and stop sending Kuria and Ndii both of whom did not run for any seat in the last election.
“They are too arrogant after winning election. This is not how they asked for votes. Interestingly, Kuria and Ndii were not elected by anybody. Let the same people who came to you with promises come out now and face the people they lied to,” Sifuna challanged.
Kuria and David Ndii Remarks
Of late, CS Kuria and Mr. Ndii have been engaging Kenyans who are protesting the hike in fuel prices.
Sadly, in their online debate with voters, the two Kenya Kwanza officials had no hope left for the poor electorates.
“I don’t believe politicians, and I don’t trust government. If you do either you are a sucker,” said Ndii on the government’s actions to increase fuel cost.
On his part, CS Kuria told Kenyans to brace for higher prices of fuel or resort to “digging their wells” in their homes.
