Azimio, Kenya Kwanza Lawyers Gang up Against Ruto Government

Monday, September 18, 2023 –Lawyers have ganged up against William Ruto’s administration as the debate on the cost-of-living rages on in the country.

In a new statement made by top lawyers led by Miguna Miguna and Danstan Omari, separately, they argued that the current leadership will not change anything because it has already surrendered despite promising to turn around this economy within months of taking power.

In his statement seen by Homenews.Co.ke on Monday September 18, Lawyer Miguna Miguna wondered why the current administration had already thrown in the towel on the cost of living just months after vilifying Uhuru Kenyatta of incompetence and mistrust.

If Kenya had no say over the global economic situation, why did we have elections in August 2022? If an elected Kenya government has no power to alleviate the impact of the global economic conditions on Kenyans, why did the Kenya Kwanza coalition tell voters that it had better plans than Azimio to do exactly that?” he posed.

The lawyer added that, in 2027, angry Kenyans would severely punish this government for taking them for-granted.

“Are the chatterers abusing Kenyans know that there are elections coming up in August 2027? Will you campaign on the platform of doing nothing in the face of the high cost of living? Will you tell Kenyans that the Treasury will be run by the IMF and the World Bank?” also asked Miguna.

Speaking on the same matter on live Tv interview today, renowned Nairobi lawyer Danstan Omari said, with the current leadership still in office, Kenyans will remain in confusion, forever.

“Do not expect anything from people with nothing to offer. That is William Ruto’s government. Kenyans should not expect anything in the next 5 years,” said Omari in a clip shared by a local news channel today Monday September 18 noon.

He reminded the public that he had warned of the same and that he is yet to change his position on this government.

The two senior lawyers were speaking this after top leaders in the current administration warned the country that everybody must brave themselves for tough economic times ahead because there is no other option as of now.

In his Sunday September 17 statement, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noted that, though, the country was facing problems, this was a global issue far away from government reach. Controversial sentiments which were shared by CS Moses Kuria and economist David Ndii.
