Saturday, January 9, 2021 -Today Saturday we learnt of Donald Trump’s Twitter account having been disabled and this time around permanently.
This is part of life but for Trump it will be another tough period because his life with Twitter looked like it was permanent and so without tweeting, the outgoing president may have another messy psychological torture.
For someone who has been tweeting all through his life and he does it from morning to the late night, it will be hard to cope up with the new normal.
Trump is being punished for spreading and fueling mayhem around the United States through his ‘full of lies’ tweets over the just ended general elections.
Trump tweets majored on chaos and it was believed that the recent Capitol Hill insurrection was purely informed by the outgoing president who appeared to be charging up his supporters to interfere with the certification exercise at the Congress.
But as fate always dictates, everything seems to be coming for Trump at the same time. On Monday January 11th, for instance, there will be an impeachment draft tabled on the floor with an aim of punishing Mr. Trump over his role in the Capitol Hill violence.
Those behind the bill argued that, if Trump is left to commit such crimes and let to go away with it, chances are he may repeat the same when he bounces back to power any other time.
Back in Africa, Presidents are committing crimes everyday but are allowed to remain heroes throughout their lives. African leaders wield too much power immediately they are sworn into office. It therefore makes it hard for anyone to dare cross their line. They also never want to leave power for the same reason.
If African countries learnt how to punish errant leaders the same way it is being done in the developed world, today countries like Uganda and Tanzania would be a safr place even during campaign times. Africa nations have to therefore learnt something from the US.
