Chrispen

Friday, October 6, 2023 –Lawyer Miguna Miguna, on Thursday October 5, exposed President William Ruto’s administration over what he called ‘unfulfilled promises’.

Miguna who faced a lot of tribulations during Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party era following the historic Uhuru Park mock swearing in ceremony of Raila Odinga, has today October 5, reminded President William Ruto of his past covenant to resolve the cases relating to his(Miguna) mistreatment.

Dr. Miguna, through a brief statement seen by this desk, disclosed how President Ruto met him in January this year and assured that all the cases which had been hanging on his(Miguna) neck will be resolved and justice served.

“In January, President William Ruto apologised to me over barbaric torture, forced exile and horrendous treatment the government that he served as DP subjected me to. He promised to have all the cases relating to those abuses resolved. 12 months later, I’m still waiting,” Miguna stated.

Cases resolved in court

In a subsequent statement, the Canadian-based lawyer said he conclusively prosecuted the cases in court and that what this government can only do for him is to resolve the remaining obstacles that could include compensation and punishing those who were behind them.

“What do you think are the cases to be resolved? I sued them and the Government a long time ago,” responded to one of his followers by the name of Ndagita.

Among the State officials Miguna sued in court over his dramatic deportation in 2018 are former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i, his interior Counterpart Karanja Kibicho among a few other powerful individuals in the Uhuru Kenyatta government.

One of his cases involved issuance of his passport which had been destroyed by the immigration department officials which then required him to reapply afresh since he was possessing a dual citizenship status.

But in his response through the court papers, Dr. Miguna would argue that being a dual citizen was legal and that he cannot be forced to renounce any between Kenya where he belongs by birth right and Canada where he migrated to with his family.

Passport standoff

At some point when his differences with the then government had escalated, he angrily destroyed papers he had been broughtto fill and sign for a new passport.

The controversial lawyer was key in the 2018 Raila Odinga’s oath ceremony staged after Uhuru and William Ruto had been declared winners in the general election on 2017.

Assisted by fellow commissioner of oath Tom Joseph Kajwang alias TJ Kajwang, also at the center of the life-threatening event, Miguna was seen administering presidential oath to the then NASA Coalition boss Raila Odinga.

He since took credit for the event.
