Saturday, October 7, 2023 –President William Ruto has told off his deputy over ‘shareholders government’ arrangement.
Speaking in Siaya County during his charm-offensive tour held on Friday October 7, Ruto told residents of Siaya County and Nyanza at large that a government cannot have shareholders and called out his deputy for preaching shares in a government that should be serving the entire population across board.
“Let nobody lie to you that you are not in government. This is your government. You pay taxes like everyone else,” Ruto started.
The president told Siaya people that he has been together with Odinga since those days of Pentagon in 2007 when Odinga was almost becoming President but managed to clinch the Prime Minster position after a bungled electoral process.
He recounted contributing immensely to Agwambo becoming something in the 2007 government of Mwai Kibaki who had been announced by the then electoral commission.
President Ruto was reacting just days after Mr. Odinga, on KTN Tv interview, asked him to call out his deputy who seems to be focused more with his Kikuyu Community rather than serving the whole country.
Ruto on clinching the presidency
Ruto, therefore, said today ODM through him has the presidency what every opposition supporter should be proud of.
“You will put up with me. I am also ready to live with you because I am the president of all Kenyans and we must plan together. Let us agree to move together.
“We have to unite as one person, Political parties are good for our democracy but parties are not enmity. Let’s work together. You know very well; all these leaders have said we were in ODM one day. Agwambo my elder brother to be called Prime Minister of Kenya, I was there for him.
“That day we were not looking for PM position. It was the Presidency we wanted. Our group was seeking for presidency but we didn’t manage. Now, do we have it or not? I am now the president, what else are you looking for?” Ruto posed to the elated audience.
This two and half long video clip was shared by controversial Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria who fell short of captioning it but, instead, left it for his followers to comment.
Ruto used the visit to meet with area leaders most of whom are in the opposition outfit headed by Raila Odinga.
Nyanza Region leaders and governors
He met with area Governor James Aggrey Orengo as well as his Kisumu counterpart Anyang Nyong’o.
Orengo praised the head of State for his commitment to develop the Region despite being an opposition stronghold.
“I joined the president H.E William Samoei Ruto during the ground breaking ceremony of Urenga Level IV Hospital. This will be a model hospital once completed. It will have capacity to manage medical, surgical, paediatric and gynaecological in-patients, radiology services, renal dialysis, tuberculosis management and mortuary and autopsy services,” he shared photos with Ruto.
The Raila Odinga’s longtime ally vowed to work with the current government for the sake of development.
