Thursday, October 12, 2023 –Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Paul Ongili or Babu Owino now wants the government to move with speed and evacuate Kenyans who are living in war-torn Israel and Palestine.
Addressing members of the fourth estate on Thursday October 12, the MP said the war that has started between the two countries – Israel and Palestine – is both religious and historical and could degenerate into a full-blown World War three.
He reasoned that as it is now, major powers in the world had started taking sides and this is a sure signal that things could escalate and harm more people including Kenyans living in those nations.
Major Powers taking sides
“This is a religious matter because the Bible in the Book of Psalms 132 as well as Quran 258 – if am not wrong – And we say enter the city and eat from it and take a humble bow. Both books talk about Israel.
“This history is so simple, that the Palestinians believe that Jerusalem and Bethlehem are homes for their prophets including Issa who is our Jesus.
“At the same time, Israelites believe that Israel, as a whole, is a home for their great leaders and Almighty Jesus Christ. These cities are homes for kings like Jacob and Jesus,” MP Owino argued during the presser.
The lawmaker, therefore, said there is serious religious tension that cannot be solved any time soon.
Babu recounted how, few years ago, Palestine was recognized by the UN as a State on its own though temporarily; but again, still vesting interest in city of Jerusalem with Israel.
“Palestinians are using Jerusalem as their capital and believe it’s their capital same Israelites who also use Tel Aviv,” added Owino.
UN to broker Peace
The MP went on to commend that the United Nation with their Security Council should start thinking of containing the region and, if possible, think on brokering peace between Palestine and Israel, this early.
“I feel that the UN should help broker peace between these two nations because signs are high that this could result in the Third World War,” added Owino.
Owino noted that the Third war would be made possible by the major powers which seem to be already positioning themselves and taking sides.
So far, Russia has announced its support to Palestine as the USA sides with Israel.
And to save the few remaining Kenyans from more harm, Government should start evacuating them from those countries.
