Monday, November 13, 2023 –Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has accused Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of starting to meddle into 2032 succession politics.
Speaking in his backyard on Saturday November 11, Khalwale claimed that Gachagua was using Cleophas Malala and East African Legislative Assembly EALA MP Hassan Omar to distabilise regional politics in readiness for the 2032 politics.
He said he had established that UDA Party acting Secretary General Cleophas Malala and Hassan Omar were being fueled to fight regional kingpins especially in Ukambani, Coast and Western regions so that he (Gachagua) can have a smooth run in 2032 after Ruto.
“He is using unorthodox means to use small politicians in fighting senior politicians. DP listen, whether you like it or not, in 2032 when Ruto leaves Statehouse Luhya will take over the country.
“No one will again do cheap politics on Luhya community in my presence because we are not a small community. We are seven million people strong,” he said.
Kahlwale said, the Deputy President is also using Mwala Member of Parliament MP Vincent Musyoka Musau aka Kawaya to fight Kalonzo Musyoka and other senior Ukambani politicians.
Senator Khalwale also used the same opportunity to criticize Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa for the altercation that ensued in a local function in Mumias over the weekend where Mumias East Member of Parliament MP Peter Salasya was attacked by goons believed to be aligned to Barasa.
“It was very wrong for Fernandes Barasa to physically attack the MP for Mumias East, Hon Peter Salasya yesterday,” remarked Khalwale.
MP Salasya was attacked at the time he was addressing residents for pointing out how the governor was not keen on breathing life into the ailing sugar cane farming and sugar industry in the Mumias area.
The first time MP would then be whisked to his safety on Sunday after his remarks against Barasa was received with mixed reactions.
In the viral video, the MP could be seen addressing Mumias residents about the state of the sugar industry in the region and how politics had contributed to its fall.
Shortly, a tall man came by his speech, grabbed away the microphone as Salasya who was caught unawares attempted to wrestle back before bodyguards swung into cation to separate the two.
The event was taking place at Bukaya Catholic Church.
