Monday, November 27, 2023 –Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary CS Kipchumba Murkomen has responded to claims of being heckled in a Baringo event.
Taking to his socials on Monday November 27 morning, the Roads CS explained that the heckling that was captured on tape in Baringo during the Governor Cheboi County’s Governor’s Cup, which is a combined effort with the OKM Peace Cup, was due to the result of dissatisfaction between the winning and the losing teams.
He further explained that, though, they enjoyed the moments when Kabarnet Starlets beat Ndambul FC by 3 goals nil, the men’s finals had to be postponed after Baringo Youth FC from the area protested their loss against Chemogoch FC from Mogotio.
“The men’s finals were postponed after Baringo Youth FC from Kabarnet, Baringo Central, protested their loss against Chemogoch FC from Mogotio.
“The officials did their best to resolve the matter, but the Baringo central team were not satisfied. Being the home team, and with their fans being more than half of the stadium, it was impossible to proceed with the match,” argued Murkomnen following heavy backlash from X platform users who had resorted to trolling him over underperformance as a cabinet secretary in William Ruto’s new administration.
Mr. Murkomen faced a long disruptive reception from Baringo residents as he attempted to address them in the event.
That far, in his account today, the players and the fans poured their frustrations on FKF officials, especially one Mr. Ruto, whom they felt was not addressing their concerns satisfactorily.
“Ruto must go,, Ruto must go,” chanted the fans in a clip which landed on Kenyawide.com news desk on Sunday November 26.
The finals will be taking place in Kapenguria in due course following the rescheduling.
Commenting on the same, former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter said, “Kalenjins are united as one people and so is Rift Valley, whether you are in Bomet-Sotik or you are in Baringo-Kabarnet we are all a united nation. If you know you know!”
