Monday, November 27, 2023 -About five people have been shot dead on a military farm in Eldoret at Kamagut Village in Uasin Gishu County.

In a report confirmed by the area administration, the five dead were on the Kenya Defense Force land KDF to collect left over maize after machines were done with the harvest exercise.

Media reports indicated that 5 other persons were rushed to various facilities for emergency treatment. In the process, three others went missing.

In the attack pitting KDF officers and the locals, it is said that the victims, as usual, were picking what the harvesting machines had left behind

Following the heinous act, Kamagut residents have come out to demand quick investigations so that to disclose the motive behind the shooting at unarmed residents.

“This government promised to support hustlers but what we are witnessing is utmost hatred against us,” mother who lost her beloved son cried.

The area residents registered their displeasure with the government saying their only mistake is trying to make a living, fairly.

Other locals who spoke to Citizen Tv claimed that the Kenya Ordinance Factory – which manufactures small firearms and ammunition is behind this shooting.

Ordinance Factory lies on a highly protected area and any trespass could automatically trigger a security reaction from the officers.

Victims, father said, the young men ran into well-armed KDF officers while collecting what had been left behind by the harvesting machines.

Area chief confirmed this report to the families as well as media outlets.
