Chrispen

Saturday, December 9, 2023 –President William Ruto today asked the country to appreciate the new type jobs which can be done remotely.

In his speech during the YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2023 held in Nairobi, Dr. Ruto said, a larger section of Kenyans still believe that it is only through donning a suit and a tie and working in an office somewhere that matters job creation industry.

He said the mentality that seems to have not left many people in Kenya is that of disparaging remote jobs in favour of traditional office work.

The commander-in-chief added that it is this old notion that has made him start thinking about changing labour laws to appreciate online work.

He recounted how a ridiculous case is in court requiring anyone working for a United States of America U.S.A firm to have an official appointment letter, first.

“It a bad idea and culture to think that working in t-shirt at home is not a job,” Ruto said further.

Ruto explained that when the Constitution was being crafted, sadly, the drafters never fathomed that the world would shift to digital space.

“The drafters of our Constitution never thought or predicted that there will come a time like today when people will have to earn a living working from home.

“In fact, we will soon be changing laws to encapsulate these dynamics,” Ruto announced through his speech.
