Tuesday, January 16, 2024 -President William Ruto has accepted talks with the Judiciary so that to address their escalating differences.
Speaking today Tuesday January 16, the head of State noted that he is ready for talks with Chief Justice Martha Koome to address alleged corruption in the courts.
“Mimi nataka nimwambie madam Chief Justice mimi niko tayari kwa hayo mazungumzo,” President Ruto said this on Tuesday in Nandi County.
He has, however, said the discussion will involve the leadership of the three arms of government.
“Mkutano kati ya executive mimi nikiongoza, judiciary ikiongozwa na Chief Justice and legislature led by the Speakers. I am ready for the conversation on how we are going to deal with vested interests, incompetence and corruption,” he said.
According to Ruto, regardless of where the vice exists in the government, it has continued to derail and sabotage the progress and the potential of the country.
But speaking miles away in Vihiga County, Azimio leader Raila Odinga today Tuesday said that Chief Justice Martha Koome holding talks with President William Ruto will mark the beginning of the Judiciary getting compromised by the executive.
In a news item quoted by the Star, Raila insisted that there is no need for the Judicial Service Commission JSC to hold talks with Ruto.
He argued that there is an active case in court that the Executive has appealed and whose ruling is set for January 25.
