Monday, January 22, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned those trying to divide Mt. Kenya leaders.
Speaking to a section of Mt. Kenya residents in Kiambu County during a golf event held on Sunday January 21, Gachagua urged those attempting to bring supremacy discourse among leaders to stop because the elections are over.
In an indirect attack to the ongoing debate on him and Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, Gachagua said voters will not accept going that route because elections are done and what is next is to deliver services to the electorates.
“People know what they are doing. Nobody will divide this region. Anybody trying this is our enemy and our strength relies on unity of purpose because from 2002 we have never been divided. Electioons are over and please close that debate,” he urged.
He also said it was a democratic right for people to vote wherever they wanted because elections are sweet when people contest and the winner is declared to serve the people.
The DP promised that, together with the head of State, their government will serve everybody equally as per the Constitution of Kenya.
He was speaking this amid back and forth among Mt. Kenya leaders who some think Ndindi Nyoro is fit to become the next deputy President after this term.
Gachagua seized the opportunity to ask electorates to believe in their government saying economy was recovering slowly and soon everything would be okay.
The former Mathira MP also urged the youths around Mt. Kenya to remain patience because God has plan for everyone.
The second in command was speaking this at Kiambu Golf Club where they had converged to support Michael Karanga, a young amateur golfer who is set to tour the United States of America for sports related assignments.
Present in the event were Kenya Airports Authority Chairperson Hon. Caleb Kositany and chairperson Kenya Golf Union Phillip Ochola, among other leaders and golfers.
