Monday, January 22, 2024 –Vocal Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has demanded leadership answers from both Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
In his X platform post of Monday January 22, Khalwale sought answers from Sakaja over broken infrastructural network in the city.
He lamented on how Nairobi Capital was looking not only chaotic but also disorganised amid increased mugging reports.
He, therefore, asked both the governor and the Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kindiki to act with speed and save Nairobi from lawlessness and disorderliness.
“The Nairobi CBD is choking with matatus, coupled with bodabodas riding in every which way and muggings, at corners. The Governor & the Minister for Interior Security must put any other considerations to bed and clean up this mess & chaos,” the lawmaker posted on X Platform.
His claims follow the hue and cry from residents who are forced to wade through flooded streets whenever there is a heavy downpour around the city.
Most residents have faulted the governor of playing Public Relations PR games with their(city dwellers).
Sakaja has, not once, been seen taking photos and videos unclogging the city drainage systems and assuring residents of safety during rainfall seasons.
This has, however, not been the case as most busy streets within the city remain flooded and impassable by both the motorists and pedestrians.
Since assuming office as Nairobi boss, Sakaja has faced criticism over his laxity to deliver services to voters.
His recent attempts to rearrange the city have also fallen on deaf ears as the city, todate, remains disorganised and congested with matatus, traders and bodaboda.
