Monday, February 19, 2024 –Photos of a modern tech-house built for world athlete champion Kevin Kiptum who died in a road accident have emerged.
This is after President William Ruto, last week, made a directive to a contractor to put up a pair of houses for the deceased’s family.
President Ruto directed that the home be built at his West Pokot County village ahead of his official burial day which will be attended by politicians and sportsmen.
This construction started on Friday last week and will run through the week upto Thursday this week as per the contractor Vastu Company Limited which is mandated with the construction work.
The construction which has a strict deadline, has seen the contractor decide to use high andfast technology dubbed precast or prefabrication.
Known to have started in Nordic countries such as Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland, precast housing is a technology that allows constructors to fabricate concrete components off-site.
It has been gaining popularity across the world due to its affordability, efficiency as well as a significant reduction in the construction period.
This process sees the contractor setting up a shell structure that includes a precast suspended foundation, precast walls, butterfly mabati roof, including gutters, conduits, and piping work.
With the late Kelvin Kiptum house, the contractor shared that the skeleton and roofing had already been completed by Sunday, within three days.
Kiptum died of road accident after his car which had his coach and a female friend, veered off the road, hit a ditch and broke down.
It left Kiptum and his coach dead on the spot as the female friend escaped with major injuries before she was rushed to a nearby hospital.
