Monday, February 26, 2024 –President William Ruto’s long-time right-hand man Farouk Kibet has shared rare details why their government is in full support of Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission post.
The president’s most trusted aide, Farouk Kibet, while addressing congregants at the AIC Church in Tapsagoi, Uasin Gishu County yesterday Sunday, shared that Raila’s candidature was a well-deserved not only for the opposition boss but as a gift to a man who has been at the top of Kenya’s leadership for many years.
He watered down the speculations that the government was only interested in phasing out Odinga factor out of fear.
“We are not giving him this job not because we fear him, we are giving it to him as a token, even God will see that we are kind as Kenyans,” stated Farouk.
Farouk, on behalf of the Kenya Kwanza government, therefore, challenged Odinga and his team to also stop claiming 2022 election victory because President William Ruto won fair and square; what was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
He also claimed that some of the top Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party stalwarts do not want Odinga supported to win the AU job.
Among those Farouk said don’t want Odinga at the AU office include ODM Party chairman John Mbadi whom he claimed has been opposing this quest.
“His people are at the forefront of opposing him, the likes of Mbadi do not want this man to go to the AU,” Mr. Farouk alleged.
Days ago, Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga, however, threw weight behind Suba South MP as the preferred successor of Mr. Odinga in the local politics.
This being a sharp contradiction with Odinga’s family elder brother Dr. Oburu Odinga who had, earlier, picked on Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi – Ugunja Member of Parliament.
