Tuesday, February 27, 2024 –President William Ruto has today countered his deputy Rigathi Gachagua over opposition factor in Kenya Kwanza gleadership.

Assuring residents of Nyanza Region of his commitment to ensure equality in distribution of resources and State appointments, Ruto told Homa Bay residents that his government will leave no one out when it comes to development and service delivery.

Ruto, who was addressing in the Homa Bay Investment Conference held at Tom Mboya University grounds on Tuesday February 27, stressed the importance of unity in the country.

“I told you when I was speaking at the market near here but you didn’t believe me then….I remember telling you that we want to unite the country, we want to work together for the unity of Kenya.”

He added that the only sure way of ruling the country to the satisfaction of everybody is through a win-win formula where every citizen feels part of the movement.

“There is room for all of us in Kenya, you don’t win by making others lose…those in opposition must mean well for Kenya, those in government must mean well for Kenya…there are no citizens who are in opposition…it is only these leaders who have a job in Parliament…all Kenyans are on the same side,” noted Ruto.

President’s call for unity comes a day after he visited Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, accompanied by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

A campaign team for Mr Odinga’s bid to chair the African Union Commission had also landed in Uganda to woo President Museveni into the Kenyan fold.

The surprise meeting between President Ruto and Mr Odinga comes barely a week after Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr Korir Sing’oei revealed that President Ruto was planning to unveil Mr. Odinga’s candidature for the AUC post, this week.

In a fresh statement yesterday Monday February 26, Sing’oei shared a post in which he was, cryptically, supporting the new dawn of events.

“Come, let us reason together – Isiah1:18,” he  quoted the Bible in a brief caption of a photo of Museveni, Ruto and Raila Odinga.

All along, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been against Ruto-Raila meetings saying he doesn’t trust Mr. Odinga following what he thinks happened wrong during the Uhuru Kenyatta era.
