Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI officers pounced on three notorious suspects who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public their hard earned money in Niarobi.
Named Jeremiah Murimi Mwaura 36, Victoria Muthoni Mutunga 36 and Albert Oyugi Ayumbo 34, they were presented in court and charged with conspiracy to defraud the public against section 317 of the Kenyan Penal Code.
The DCI claimed through their charge sheet that the suspect together with their accomplices some who had escaped the Monday dragnet, were posing along Nairobi Streets as official employees at Safaricom and another mobile provider. They were openly conducting sales and promotions of their mobile products.
“During their arrest, a Motor vehicle Reg. No. KBL 247X branded StarTimes JYDS, Assorted mobile phones, T-shirts among other items were recovered from them,” said the DCI.
DCI took the opportunity to urge the public to remain vigilant as they pursue the other group which had managed to escape the arrest.
Most mobile service providers in the country have been losing millions to such con games and with increased surveillance across the country, sanity to the industry could be back soon.
Kenyans, on the other hand, have also been conned millions by people who pose to be working at Safaricom and other major mobile service firms.
