Monday, March 18, 2024 –Family of Rita Tinina, former NTV journalist, has shared more details on her ailment.

Helen Silau Njenga, Tinina’s siter, yesterday shared with the Kileleshwa Police that her sister had been suffering from Epilepsy.

She disclosed that the late sister, Tinina, experienced a severe fever for a period of five days, consecutively, leading to her death.

The sister made this report to the police at around 10:45AM just moments after Tinina body had been discovered in her room.

The 46-year-old journalist was discovered unconscious on her bed in Kileleshwa home where Silau also rushed only to find the journalist unresponsive.

On requesting for medical support from nearby medics, they arrived and confirmed that Tinina had passed on.
She was living with her eight-year-old daughter at the time of her passing.

Fellow journalists among them, Linah Ogutu who once worked with her in a news room at KTN, mourned her as a role model who taught her the newsroom secrets.

The former KTN News anchor eulogised the late as a mentor who frequently and unconditionally guided her in the media industry.

“I am who I am because I stood on her shoulders while at NTV. Go well my darling. Rita Tinina, the hand that held mine and never let go. I am broken,” Ogutu wrote.

Ms Tinina.mother of one, is a beloved media personality with more than a decade of experience in journalism profession.

She worked with the Nation Media Group NMG before joining KTN News in 2012 where she worked as a senior reporter. She would again return to NTV in October 2023.
