Monday, March 18, 2024 –President William Ruto has postponed the scheduled signing of the Affordable Housing Bill into law.
This is despite having promised to turn the Bill into full law following the ratification already done in both houses – the National Assembly and the Senate.
The assenting exercise was scheduled for March 18 to pave the way for the legacy project aimed at delivering, atleast, 200,000 housing units every year with thousands of jobless youths promised contracts and employment.
Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam had, over the weekend, sent out an invite to media houses, inviting journalists to attend the Statehouse event expected to start at 8:00AM
On Monday March 18, morning, however, the Statehouse again sent out a communique indicating that the event had been moved forward.
The reason for the postponement is yet to be shared with the media and the public.
