Tuesday, March 19, 2024 –Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly MCA Robert Alai was on Tuesday March 19 engaged in an ugly physical confrontation with alleged land cartels in his area.
In a video from a source shared on our desk at noon, the vibrant youthful lawmaker could be seen exchanging with a group of hired goons and even breaking loose to pelt a stone at some before he was grabbed and controlled by bodyguards.
The reported land-grabbers have been attempting to seize land in Kilileshwa – Mwingi Road, specifically LR 23/576 and LR 23/577.
MCA Alai managed to overpower the goons at certain moments during the confrontation and they were seen running away.
Land-grabbing in the city has been on an increase as cartel enterprise is said to be well-connected and monied making it hard for the authorities to take control of public property.
Ministry of Lands led by Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, recently, announced a plan top start seizing any illegally acquired property across the country.
In a similar move, Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission last week started, in earnest, to harvest back grabbed public property within the CBD. Notably was Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s church located along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.
“I campaigned for UDA and President William Ruto around this city and I made sure he got enough votes but today they have turned against me,” Bishop Wanjiru lamented to the media.
EACC would, shortly, list Nairobi’s Neno Evangelism Center belonging to Pastor James Ng’anga as their next stop.
