Friday, March 22, 2024 –Unruly youth disrupted burial ceremony attended by Speaker of National Assembly Moses Wetangula as Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
Chaos erupted at burial in Goseta, Trans Nzoia County, after a clash between Wetang’ula and Natembeya supporters erupted with supporters armed with rungus and stones chasing each other.
Two groups confronted each other for hours as everyone took to their heels to save their lives; what saw the burial service stopped until cam was restored.
“People coming to funeral to cause chaos when they do not know who died and is being buried. This must stop,” “Wetang’ula said.
Speaking separately on the matter, Governor Natembeya accused Wetang’ula’s faction of playing politics in important local events like burials.
He showed the media how his pair of trouser was ripped off by men believed to be from Ford Kenya.
“My trouser was ripped off. How do you lead people like that while at the same time saying you are their leader? He posed the question accusing Speaker Wetang’ula of being behind the chaos.
The governor asked for peace saying his he is keen on fostering unity and a peaceful co-existence between the two counties of Bungoma and Trans Nzoia.
