Several Dead, Others Injured After a Kensilver bus Rolled Over Bridge

Sunday, April 7, 2024 –Several feared dead and others injured after a Kensilver PSV bus rolled over at Nithi Bridge along the Nairobi-Meru Highway.

Speaking on the increase of accidents in the country today, Transport Cabinet Secretary CS Kipchumba Murkomen said their government is working hard to stop the carnage.

“We are working to stop accidents and we are installing digital speed cameras around the country. And we are in the procurement process in three to four months,” he said.

He reminded everybody that road accident is a collective responsibility and that everyone must take responsibility to reduce further deaths.

The CS said every day in this country is turning out to be very risky as lives are lost on roads or elsewhere; what requires cooperation from every road user.

“Anyone who will violate traffic rules will be fined immediately as we try to put up other mechanisms to help save lives.

Murkomen also said, school transport system is another area his office is working to keep lives of learners as safe as possible.

The former Elgeyo Marakwet senator was addressing this matter following recent public outcry on the number of accidents occurring along major highways in the country.

At least, two people were left dead on Saturday morning and 10 others seriously injured after a bus they were traveling in was involved in a road accident along Naivasha-Nairobi highway.

Police in the area blamed poor visibility among other causes at the time of the accident which occurred at Muguga area in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
