Foreigner Dies, Matatu Plunges Into Filled River as Accident Number Explodes

Thursday, April 11, 2024 –A well-known anti-corruption crusader has been reported dead following a harrowing road crash.

Ms Gretta Fenner who was, by the time of her death, managing director at Basel Institute of Management in Switzerland was killed in a road accident that found her in Kenya.

A minibus filled with passengers plunged into a river on Wednesday, April 10, in Makueni County

Basel Institute of Management made this tragic news while at the same time describing the late as extra-ordinary force in the fight against graft around the world.

The announcement also confirmed that the late has been at the helm of the school for over 10 years now.

“We and our partners and counterparts around the world, will miss her greatly. Her family and friends are in our thoughts as we come to terms with this news,” read part of a statement from the institution.

Elsewhere, a minibus filled with passengers plunged into a river on Wednesday, April 10, in Makueni County while escaping the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA crackdown.

Thursday reports on our desk indicated that the driver decided to escape the dragnet using a less-used path that was untamarcked when he learnt that NTSA officials were camping at Salama area along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

At the time of the accident, NTSA reported that the vehicle had been filled to capacity with 46 passengers on board.

It lost control in that speed hence plunging into the river.

The two accidents coming at the time, the country is fighting increased road carnage with the Ministry of Transport led by Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen put on the spot.

CS Murkomen has warned careless motorists of dire consequences on the road adding that safety belts, driver-retesting as well as speed governors must be reinstated to protect lives.
