Sunday, April 14, 2024 –A United Democratic Alliance UDA Party politician from Western Kenya has lost life in a ghastly road accident.
Godfrey Mapesa, an aspirant for the Lumakanda Ward post in the 2022 general election, met his death when his personal car crashed on April 14 in an early morning incident.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale shared the report on his timeline saying the young politician was, by the time of his ultimate death, still actively engaged in local politics.
The accident, according to the source, took place at Mwamba area in Lugari, Kakamega County.
“A fatal road traffic accident at Mwamba in Lugari has this morning claimed the life of our friend and political comrade, Godfrey Mapesa. It’s hard to come to terms with this. I extend my condolences to the people of Lumakanda Ward, his family, colleagues, and friend,” posted Senator Kahlwale.
The late vied for the Lumakanda MCA seat in 2022 on UDA Party ticket but lost to the current sitting MCA, Benard Wanyonyi Mulama Bokanda.
Mr. Bokanda joined other leaders from the region in mourning the fellow politician describing Mapesa as a vibrant leader whose death is a blow to many.
This fatal accident taking place at the time accidents on major roads around the country are on an alarming increase.
