Monday, April 15, 2024 – Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission EACC has summoned former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria to their headquarters tomorrow Tuesday.
In a statement seen by Kenyawide.com on Monday April 15, politician Iria and his spouse Jane are urgently required at the Integrity Center Nairobi so that to be processed.
The EACC also mentioned six accomplices whom it described as ‘men on the run’ and who must show up to respond to questions concerning irregular tendering process years ago.
“The Commission has ordered former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wairia, his spouse Jane Waigwe Kimani, and 6 other suspects, currently at large in an attempt to evade arrest, to immediately report to EACC Headquarters at Integrity Centre for processing in relation to the graft charges they are facing,” the EACC charged.
The case emanated from a a complaint lodged with the anti-graft agency in which a concern local accused Wa Iria and his team of an irregular procurement process in which the county lost a whopping sh 140,000,000.
And when the investigations were completed, EACC submitted a comprehensive report to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution DPP which found Wa Iria culpable of the economic crime.
Miles away in Kakamega County, former Kakamega area Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is also accused of malpractices when he was serving as the county CEO.
