Friday, April 19, 2024 –A photo of one of the survivors of two who escaped death in the Francis Ogolla Thursday chopper incident has emerged.

Karanja Mogire, who was on board with the rest of the colleagues and Chief of Defense Forces Francis Ogolla survived death by a whisker.

“Quick recovery to service man Karanja Mogire, one of the survivors in the aircrash accident. He was the team’s videographer. Bro Mungu anakupenda,” commented former Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Sadly, Sergeant Rose Nyawira – the late CDF’s photographer – perished in the chopper incident alongside her boss.

“So so cute kalikuwa karembo sana hata alikuwa na mwanya kama mimi. May the souls of all our departed soldiers rest in eternal peace. Familia poleni sana May the Lord in heaven give you strength during this difficult moment you’re undergoing. It’s very painful to lose a loved one,” noted Sonko in his condolences to the family of the bereaved.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has come out to demand a thorough review of airwothiness of all State choppers having witnessed a number of crashes in the recent past.

“We now demand a thorough review of the air worthiness of the Kenya State owned aircraft. Since 2012, a shocking 12 aircraft belonging to Kenya Air Force and another 5 to the National Police Air Wing have crashed! Furthermore, procurement of these aircraft, their maintenance, and operation must be put under scrutiny”.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua described Ogolla as a charming vibrant army officer who worked hard for his country.

“It was only yesterday afternoon that General Ogolla and I had a really hearty conversation at the Bomas of Kenya during the Wage Bill Conference. General Ogolla was a very vibrant, pleasant and joyous person, with a distinct and admirable demeanour,” DP Gachagua said.
