Thursday, June 6, 2024 –Opposition boss Raila Odinga has shared details on his relationship with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Addressing concerns on Thursday June 6, Mr. Odinga said there is always that space for change in politics and that the government comprising of Rigathi Gachagua had agreed to join his bid for the African Union Chair position.

Speaking during the presentation of Limuru 3 resolutions held at Chungwa House Nairobi, Raila said, he now has a warm relationship with Gachagua ahead of AU contest which requires the government to bless his bid.

“Deputy President is member of this Government and, yesterday, their government said they will support my bid. So, he has seen the light he was Soul but now he is become Paul,” stated Odinga at Chungwa House Nairobi, today.

Odinga was speaking this in reference to the one-man-one vote-one shilling resource distribution policy that is still a headache to implement.

Odinga, therefore, seized the opportunity to announce that this can only be fully realised through a referendum exercise so that it is firmly anchored in law.

“It’s logical for equity of resources. I already supported the proposal on the defunct BBI. We need equity, not equality. That’s why in BBI we talked for one man, one vote, and one shilling,” Mr. Odinga added.

Raila’s today sentiments going in tandem with the Kenya Kwanza’s resolve to support his candidature for the Africa post.

The State promised to fund and mobilise resources to make sure a Kenyan takes the AUC seat when elections are carried out.

In a joint press briefing at Musalia Mudavadi’s Railways offices on Tuesday June 4, the Prime CS commended Raila’s leadership style saying he deserves support to win the upcoming contest at the AU.
