Sunday, June 9, 2024 –President William Ruto has contradicted self on the high rise buildings in Eistleigh area in Nairobi.

In a past directive on his car rooftop, the president ordered developers willing to erect flats in the area to go on saying they would, henceforth, be allowed.

In the undated video clip shared widely on the internet, Ruto asserts his authority reminding the country his position as the commander-in-chief of the Kenyan armed forces.

“Am the commander in chief. In the past here in Eistlegh, no one was allowed to built a 12 storey house but I have now announced that we can build upto 25 or 30 storey flat,” Ruto announced then during his past tour in the area.

And speaking yesterday Saturday June 8 during the Kenya Air Force 60th Anniversary Celebrations, held at the Moi Air Base, Eastleigh, President Ruto appeared to contract his earlier statement by saying the high buildings in the area will no longer be allowed.

“Let me also commit that with discussions with the county of Nairobi, we will make sure that this facility does not lose its premium position. And all buildings built beyond legal heights and against the law, we will work with Nairobi City County to ensure that this is corrected,” announced Ruto.

Ruto’s two statements have left the country wondering which side to take serious owing to the fact that all the statements came from him as the commander-in-chief.

However, Kenyans on social media have triggered a debate on the double speak from the head of State saying; this is not new with him.
