- Ruto Scripts Speech Notes for MPs – Gachagua - January 20, 2025
Thursday, June 13, 2024 – Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, has asked Kenya Kwanza supporters to ask the person they voted for to pause the Finance Bill for them.
Reacting to a barrage of calls and SMS directed to his mobile phone today following an online campaign to force MPs to reject the Bill, Salasya explained that he had received over 5000 calls and SMS in just one hour from the members of the public some who voted for the ticket of William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua.
“There are almost 5,000 numbers here calling me. And some are Kenya Kwanza supporters calling me after they voted for President William Ruto. Why disturb me when I am an Azimio member?” he posed.
He filed a complaint against the members of public who think his vote in Parliament is significant given that the ruling party, using their numbers, will support the Bill to a man and it will still pass before Ruto finally assents it into law.
“From where I sit, even if I say I do not want to vote yes, as long as Kenya Kwanza people vote yes, they have numbers. There is nothing I can do,” he stated.
The phone calls were part of a master-coordinated campaign by Kenyans on social media where the phone numbers of their MPs were shared among the online army.
But reacting to the campaign, Dennis Itumbi said the Finance Bill will pass and become law and warned any MP against voting No to it.
He said the Bill ‘must and will pass’ when it is tabled on the floor of the Parliament because it has a lot of good things for the people of Kenya.
