Friday, June 21, 2024 –One young man who had joined peaceful protest in Nairobi City was shot dead by armed police officers who had been assigned to control the rising tension from the young men dubbed Gen Z.
Kenyawide.com can authoritatively confirm that a young man by the name of Maasai Kanyike Rex(pictured) was killed by a police officer amid escalating anti-Finance Bill demonstrations around the country.
“RIP Rex Kanyike Masaai. If it is established that indeed you fell from a police bullet, then the law must take its course. The use of live bullets on peaceful protesters is evil,” a Kenyan on X made the comments.
Lawyer Miguna Miguna joined the rest of the Kenyans in calling out the killer cop saying it is a crime and whoever was involved in the killing should be brought to book as soonest.
“This is cruel and inhumane. The barbaric Kenya Police have murdered Rex Kanyike Masai, but he rests a hero and leaves a legacy of courage. We demand justice. His death must not be in vain. Freedom Fighters: prepare for the Mother of All Battles!”.
Young men dubbed Gen Z have poured on the streets to express their frustration against the government over the Finance Bill 2024 that seems not to cater for their needs despite having been promised ‘big things’.
They have done two mega demonstrations in Nairobi City with other parts like Eldoret catching on with the pace slowly.
