Saturday, June 29, 2024 –President William Ruto has called upon youth leaders and several other stakeholders on a dialogue table to address the dwindling relationship of his government with the voters.
Speaking in the Statehouse today Saturday June 29 where he hosted clergies from various missions, the president highlighted the need to focus on a youth driven agenda so that to resolve the existing impasse.
He listed civil societies, youth groups, university leaders, professional bodies and several other agencies as important in helping address the standoff currently in the country.
“Let us sit down and talk with each other.
“I want us to speak as leaders of this country. NGOs civil society, professional bodies, and university youth please let us sit down and discuss on how to move forward this country.
“Separate what our youth are agitating for from the criminal elements who want to infiltrate the real agenda to cause mayhem and unrest,” added President William Ruto.
Sources reported that, Ruto hosted a total of 96 bishops at the Statehouse Nairobi where he seized the chance to urge them to help support calm the increasing unrest from the young men and women across the country.
Dubbed the multi-sectoral forum, he noted, will help address the issues raised by the youths in the country who have since poured on the streets in protest against wanting leadership from the Kenya Kwanza government.
“The proposed youth and multi-sectoral forums will give the youth and other stakeholders a platform to discuss these and other national economic challenges that face our country,” Ruto stated.
Dr. Ruto pointed out that the youth, civil society, religious groups and others should, therefore, expedite nomination of two members each by July 7, to form a 100-member National Steering Committee of Multi-Sectoral forum.
This, he argued, will help make things easier and faster in addressing the grievances that have since sparked protests that takes place every Tuesday and Thursday of the week.
The head of State met leaders of the African Independent Pentecostal Church Africa who committed to participate in the multi-sectoral forum. They included 96 bishops led by Presiding Archbishop Samson Muthuri.
