Kibwana to vie for presidency, not CoG Chairmanship

Tuesday January 26, 2021 -Makueni Governor also DP William Ruto’s top ally has clarified that he is not interested in succeeding Wycliffe Oparanya as the next Council of Governors CoG Chairman.

In his latest social media update of Tuesday January 26, Mr. Kibwana mentioned that he will not contesting for the post because he is busy making preparations for the top seat in 2022.

He asserted that his eyes are firmly set on the mega prize to govern this nation from 2022 and not as it is being misreported by a section of the media.

“I will not be a candidate for Council of Governors elections. As a 2022 Presidential Candidate, I have been advised by my Team that serving in the next CoG executive can constitute a conflict of interest. I thank my colleagues for the opportunity to serve as Chief Whip,” he clarified.

Currently the position is held by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya(Kakamega County Governor) who is expected to make his final exit anytime from today.

Among others Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has shown her interest in the position as well as her Murang’a counterpart Mwangi wa Iria.
