Monday, July 22, 2024 ––Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has warned anti-government protesters against going to the streets.

In a press briefing held today Monday July 22, Museveni warned that anybody thinking of marching to the capital city streets was playing with fire and that they will be met with full force of the army.

NUP candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

He argued that, going to the streets in the name of anti-government protests could result in destruction of property and businesses; what his administration cannot watch quietly.

The commander-in-chief gave those planning the protests an alternative of occupying areas which are not market places and where they cannot destroy businesses and properties.

“My question is, what right then do you have to seek to generate chaotic behavior? We are busy producing wealth and getting cheap food as other people around the world cry for hunger and you here you want to disturb us. You are playing with fire.

“We cannot allow you to destroy our lives. When you protest in places like Kampala, do you want to step on people’s products?” he posed.

Ugandan youth have threatened to march to the Kampala streets this week in protest against poor leadership from their president Yoweri Museveni.

They have emulated their Kenyan counterparts who have pressed on with demonstrations dubbed ‘Gen Zs’ that have seen the president disband the entire cabinet and throw away the Finance Bill 2024.
