Barbecue born Jimmy Cherizier, on Thursday July 25, entered into a peace treaty with other gang leaders among them, Mathias Saintil and Gabriel Jean-Pierre (Ti Gabriel), just days after he called upon authorities to agree on peace talks so that to put to an end years of fight in their country.
Eared Haiti gang Barbecue noted that he is looking forward to fostering peace in the Caribbean nation that has, for years, been tattered by unnecessary unrest.
The deal, according to La Nouvelliste media outlet, was conducted under an hours long strict closed door meeting.
“Residents took to the streets to celebrate this peace. Today, after more than two years,” revealed one of the people who spoke to La Nouvelliste reporters.
The gang leadership used the opportunity to urge Haitian government to also consider truce by convening a meeting with them.
