Wednesday, August 28, 2024 –Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Babu Owino has responded to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
Speaking today Wednesday in a meeting held in Nairobi and attended by opposition politicians, Babu Owino said he would steer clear of Museveni claims because of the respect he has for him and Mr. Raila Odinga.
He added that answering Museveni may deny Raila the African Union Commission vote from Uganda.
“The current President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni came yesterday and I don’t want him to lose his vote for Baba. I respect him as my grandfather.
“The number of years he has served in power is more than my years and therefore there is a time and a season for everything. I respect him and I recognize him as a revolutionary and there are those revolutionaries who ended up very badly, Owino noted.
Addressing the same matter, former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa wondered how an elderly president would spend time talking about a youthful leader like Babu Owino.
He noted further that Owino is a friend to his age-mate Bobi Wine what is not anything to worry President Yoweri Museveni.
“We were very shocked yesterday when we heard one of the heads of state attack someone who is supposed to be his grandson. Mimi ni rafiki sana wa mheshimiwa Yoweri Museveni. Mimi nimemjua kwa miaka zaidi ya ishirini nimekuwa wakili wake. Mimi simjui Bobi Wine lakini Bobi Wine anajua Babu Owino. Babu Owino na Bobi Wine ni marafiki,” remarked Wamalwa.
Yesterday during the unveiling of Raila Odinga’s candidature for the AUC chairmanship in the Statehouse Nairobi, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni invoked the name of Babu Owino saying he was meddling in Uganda affairs.
