Thursday, August 29, 2024 –Statehouse Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has taken issue with Morara Kabaso’s claims that President William Ruto made a direct phone call to him.
In phone call made by the host Jeff Koinange on JKL Live, Hussein who sounded bitter, sought a clarification from Morara on how and when the president made such a phone call.
Calling it a flat lie, Hussein noted that almost every Kenyan has contacts of President William Ruto and by Morara having the number, is not enough to prove he was called.
“I am shocked at what Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the President called him. For the record, such a call never happened, it’s a statement of his imagination
“A lot of Kenyans have the President’s number by the way. Let Morara substantiate that the President called him. He is lying, he is running away from the question. Will you allow anybody in Kenya to just walk into your studios and say he was called by the President and you just believe it? How can he prove it?” said Hussein.
The Statehouse spokesman pressed further to know if Morara had any evidence including call logs from the service provider Safaricom.
“The onus is on Morara to substantiate. Jeff I have been a journalist and I hold high respect for you too. You can’t allow anyone to just come on your show with unsubstantiated claims. Let Morara say ‘allegedly’ not to state this as a fact,” Hussein Mohamed advised.
But in an immediate rejoinder, Morara assured Jeff Koinange that he will bring along with him the Safaricom call logs if need be.
“Initially I had calls from people around the President. Then eventually I got a call from the President. I spoke to him very respectfully because he is our President. Whatever I was offered I refused, I was offered a state position. Being a brilliant person and a person of integrity, I believe that if I go into government I am going there to be corrupt. There is too much demand for you to steal money and give to certain people. I’ll be depressed working there, I’d rather stay at my furniture shop and do my business,” said Morara.
Morara shot to stardom a month ago following a series of video clips he goes around the country taking to expose the unaccomplished State projects launched years back by President William Ruto.
Among the unfinished projects he has focused on include multi-million stadia, hospitals, schools and affordable houses by the government.
