Saturday, September 3, 2024 –Ugandan Opposition leader Bobi Wine or Robert Kyagulanyi was shot by people believed to be police officers.
In a confirmation statement shared out with the public, Wine’s communication team narrated the intrigues that led to the shooting saying, the Tuesday evening incident took place when he was on his way from Bulindo area in Kira Municipality.
Bobi Wine and his enterouge had traveled there to check on their lawyer by the name George Musisi and, on their return journey, the police and the military surrounded his cars, shot canisters and live bullets where one managed to find Bobi Wine’s on his left leg.
“This evening as our President returned from Bulindo in Kira Municipality where he had gone to check on one of our lawyers, Musisi George, the police and military under the command of one Twesigye surrounded our vehicles and started firing live bullets, teargas canisters and other projectiles. In the process, our President Bobi Wine who was clearly targeted was shot in the leg. He is currently being attended to by a team of medical doctors. This is yet another attempt on the life of our President by the Museveni regime,” read the statement in part.
Days ago, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, while in Kenya, pointed out that Embakasi East Member of Parliament MP Babu Owino was actively engaging in opposition politics in Uganda.
“There is some character in Raila Odinga group by the name Babu owino who is involved in anti-NRM activities in my home Uganda,” announced Museveni.
He said that he has been receiving a lot of intelligence on the Kenya’s MP Babu Owino in partnership with Bobi Wine.
But in a rejoinder delivered th efolliwng day, MP Babu Owino said, he is a friend to Bobi Wine and that anything that touches on the youths around East Africa is his business.
