Wednesday, September 4, 2024 –On his official profiles, Kebaso Morara describes himself as a graduate lawyer, bishop of merciless peace and chief registrar of broken promises in an indirect reference to President William Ruto’s alleged unfulfiledd pledges.
He is a young businessman who runs a successful furniture business in Nairobi and who also trained as a lawyer at the Kenyatta University K.U.
“A Dangerously Intelligent Lawyer. Bishop of Merciless Peace & Chief Registrar of Broken Promises,” his X and Facebook profiles read.
Speaking on Jeff Koinange JKL show in August 2024, Mr. Kebaso, while answering Jeff question on his roots, revealed coming from a family heavily rooted in politics of Kenya.
“Growing up, I know you grew up in pedigree of people who stood up to government. Take us back from there,” posed Jeff Koinage to Morara.
How his family members were assassinated
In his response, Lawyer Morara indicated, for the first time, that his two politician family members were assassinated during the Nyayo era under President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
He mentioned his great grandfather John Morara who was the first Kisii senator in Majimbo post-independent system, and ex-MP George Morara, first West Mugirango Member of Parliament, who was crashed in a road accident by hired assailants.
“I come from a family of real worriers of this nation – my great grandfather John Kebaso who was the first Kisii senator in the Majimbo system after independent and
“George Morara, the late, who was West Mugirango Member of Parliament, who unfortunately, both of them lost lives in weird circumstances. George, for instance, was assassinated because of the death of Tom Mboya,” Kebaso disclosed.
In his narration to Jeff on Citizen Tv, Morara shared that, the late George had traveled to Zambia on a Parliamentary tour where he, inadvertently, met Tom Mboya’s killer who the government had claimed to have found guilty and hanged.
The State had announced that it had hanged the killer and that he was no more but George Morara met the same killer partying in a restaurant.
“Killer of Mboya, government had said, had hanged him but when he(George) was in Zambia, he found the said killer of Mr. Mboya taking alcohol in club,” Morara told Jeff Koinange.
Quest for Tom Mboya Murder
So when he(George) returned to Kenya, he decided to start the hard quest of unearthing the truth about Tom Mboya murder. He wanted Mboya’s body exhumed and that is when the State plotted for his assassination which it did.
“When he came to Nairobi, he was livid and asked for exhumation of Tom Mboya’s body,” Morara Kabaso detailed further.
It was during this push that he met his death while on his way from a Kakamega fundraiser when a lorry crashed him. The occupants of the lorry came out to hit him more when they had realised he was not dead.
Asked by Jeff why he thinks he cannot be taken through the same by the current regime, Morara exuded confidence that his family’s past cannot scare him from doing what he thinks is right for the country.
