Monday, October 7, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has confirmed that he is not resigning from government.
Addressing the nation from his official Karen resident today evening, the DP said he has no reason or plans to announce his resignation any time soon because all the charges leveled against him are frivolous and cooked.
He also said, having been elected by over 7 million Kenyans is not very easy to allow a few members of Parliament to force him to resign from office.
The DP noted that those who are dreaming about his intentions to resign from office are wasting their time because he was elected by a majority to hold the position of the DP and serve the country for five years.
“When I called this press conference, there was a lot of speculations that Rigathi Gachagua was to resign. This is a man elected by 7.2 million people. How dare can you think that he can do so without a thorough public participation?” he posed.
He added that he will fight back any attempts to haunt him out of office because it is his Constitutional right to be the deputy president.
“I have no reason whatsoever to resign from this government and I will fight to the end,” added the second in command.
The DP noted that he will be appearing before Parliament tomorrow to follow the proceeding that he is accused of many things among them lack of integrity and tribalism.
He expressed his belief that after the Parliament is done with its role on this matter, the Judiciary will pick up from there and deliver justice to him.
“I have tremendous respect to our judiciary and the professional judges. And the professional way they have been handling issues affecting Kenyans. Neither the Parliament nor the Senate can decide my fate send me him and we just let it go,” he assured.
The DP was speaking this just a day after asking his boss President William Ruto to forgive him and allow him to complete his first term.
